Come and join us once again at Shirefest, the annual one-day festival for all kinds of music - or as many as we can fit in on one day! This year we intend to cover part of the car park so it doesn’t matter about the weather, you shouldn’t get wet or freeze in the evening, but remember that in early June it can still get pretty chilly at night.

There will be music outside, starting at 2:30pm with the Shirenewton band Nightjar and headlining with Newport-based Fired Up at 9pm – don’t miss them! As well as this there will be an acoustic stage indoors running from 2 until 9. And, after complaints in previous years about chilly late finishers outside, this time we will be finishing up inside; The Moonshine Runnerz, a local rockabilly band, will be taking us through to midnight inside in the warmth and comfort of the Huntsman’s restaurant.

In addition, we have a bouncy castle (strictly for the kids!) and a roving samba band, called Velha Bataria, strolling around and keeping you entertained in between acts. There could be as many as 20 of them and so you shouldn’t miss them!

As always, apart from listening to good music and having a good time, the purpose of the event is to raise money for charity. This year we are again supporting the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital. Please remember that everyone – the bands and the organisers – all give their time for free. So, with our generous sponsors helping to pay for the sound equipment and the stage, you can be sure that every penny of your ticket price goes to a very good cause. Food and drink is available. Plenty of space to dance and let your hair down. So why not come and make at day of it - at £10 per adult and 16 and under free, it’s fantastic value for a memorable day out, as many previous attendees have said.
